Cat-themed TTRPGs that I’ve personally played and loved

Magical Kitties Save the Day!

Magical Kitties Save the Day! is a tabletop RPG for all ages and all about cats with awesome powers! Set up was quick, the story was engaging, and I had a blast playing! It’s very freeform and gives a lot of flexibility for your feline characters to get up to all kinds of adventures.

Coven of Cats

Coven of Cats is a D&D 5e compatible adventure that’s great for any age where you play as magical cats who have joined together to study the arcane arts and solve a mystery that’s plaguing the other cats in town.  It comes with everything you need to play, is wonderfully illustrated, and is purrfect for some cat-themed TTRPG fun!

Time Tails

Time Tails RPG is a system (that comes with an adventure in the magazine) focusing on time travel mechanics and sliding in with some 80’s vibes.  It lends itself VERY well to solving mysteries (like in the game we played in the TTRPGkids review) and has a very lighthearted and cartoony feel that makes it great for playing with any age.

CATS

CATS is a micro RPG that’s great for any age and that is easy for new and young players to jump into. It has a very all-ages friendly setting, character set up, and mechanic system that focuses more on exploration and creativity, and it is ALL ABOUT playing as a cat and getting up to cat business.

Kittens & Dragons

Kittens & Dragons from Van Ryder Games is a graphic novel choose-your-own-adventure (CYOA) style story that uses search-and-find mechanics instead of dice!  It’s great for running solo or with your kids for a good read, a fun game, and a wonderful adventure! This is also really good as an intro to TTRPGs – it walks the line between a book and a game, so it could be more familiar to kids who haven’t played a TTRPG before than jumping into a full new game.

No Mice, No Meowsters

And, to close off this list, we have No Mice, No Meowsters, which was the first actual TTRPG (that wasn’t just us making up stories with ad hoc mechanics) that I played with my kid! It’s made for all ages, is very easy to play, and is fun just creating some choas in the room, neighborhood, or spaceship that you decide to mess with!
