Sidekick Story

Sidekick Story, pulp style solo TTRPG

Sidekick Story is a solo TTRPG mystery. You play as a sidekick to a missing superhero, and it’s your duty to find the missing hero! Gather clues from around town both in and out of costume, but watch out because aach location you visit has its own super happenings going on that you must survive and decipher while also trying to find your superhero. Dragon Dowser

Dragon Dowser is a solo journaling TTRPG where you venture forth in a somewhat post-apocalyptic land to rescue and protect endangered dragons before everything is lost.  Each card that you uncover reveals a new challenge or boon along with an engaging story that has you chaining together a combination of actions, downtime, excitment, and contemplation. Complete the Quest: The Poisonous Library by Brian McLachlan is a solo choose-your-own-adventure style graphic novel TTRPG that prompts readers to make impactful choices, roleplay different characters, and go on an epic adventure with lots of twists and turns! The story can end very differently depending on the party members you choose at the start and the choices that you have them make during their adventure, so it’s got amazing re-read value as well. The Librarian’s Apprentice

The Librarian’s Apprentice is a 2024 award-winning solo TTRPG that sets players on an epic adventure through an infite libarary full of wonderful, exciting, and often humurous encounters.  It shifts and changes and is full of strange rooms, creatures, and books to explore as you uncover more and more from the massive prompt tables, giving you a totally different set of events every time you play. With vibes from works like Terry Pratchett’s Discworld, this solo TTRPG is going to have some odd and exciting twists throughout your journey. Brambletrek

Brambletrek is a solo (or multiplayer) TTRPG that’s designed to guide you on a GM-less story with your fierce, curious, and adorable mouse characters. Designed specifically to work for either solo or multiplayer TTRPG play, this is a great option for being able to branch into single player adventures between multiplayer sessions while being able to use one system, and to try out different character options outside of typical group play. Kittens & Dragons

Kittens & Dragons is a graphic novel choose-your-own-adventure (CYOA) style story that uses search-and-find mechanics instead of dice!  It’s great for running solo since the book guides you through the whole adventure using color and shape coded tabs/options, and it can be particularly great for young readers to run solo since it is so heavily picture-based and light on writing compared to many of the other solo TTRPGs on this list.
