Why is it important to support TTRPGkids?

I’m doing this to help families, teachers, camp leaders, kids, teens, etc find games to play together and to support creators who are making TTRPGs for youth and all-ages because I think it can benefit people.

I want help a lonely kid find a TTRPG group and feel a little less lonely, I want a parent to really understand their child a little more because they notice something in a game, and I want a classroom to find joy in learning through play.

And I want to teach others how to do this so it’s not just me out there with the tools to make this happen. The impact grows exponentially as folks figure out how to use TTRPGs and share them with others.

It is a fun hobby for me, and I enjoy making this content because it helps me have an impact.

That said, I am running TTRPGkids on my own and am committed to keeping the site free and not flooded with annoying pop ups for ad revenue… but this work does have costs for hosting and maintaining the site, obtaining games so I can check them out for reviews, and traveling to events where I can give talks and help more people learn about this in different ways.

I also just really want more people finding this so it can help them.

#1 – FREE: Use and share TTRPGkids articles so more people can find them

The best ways you can support TTRPGkids is to use and share the posts that I’ve written.

I would love to see some positive impact from this site and to know that it is helping. I would also love to share my content with more people.

If something worked well for you and you think it might help someone else, please share it!

If you found a craft idea that you think your sister’s kid might like, email her a link!

If you read a game review for an educational TTRPG that you think could help your colleages, drop it in the school chat!

If you listened to a podcasts from one of my lists, drop a comment on that episode letting the creator know how you learned about them!

All of that helps.

#2 – PAID: Use TTRPGkids affiliate links when buying games you already would buy

I vowed to not do pop-up ads with this website, so I am using affiliate links (since they are minimally intrusive and not super distracting to the site and user). If you click on one of my affiliate links and use it shop, the company you are shopping with counts it as a referral and will pay me a small commission. This is no additional cost to your shopping cart total AND sometimes you may even get a DISCOUNT!

So, if you want to buy a game I recommended OR are doing your regular shopping for other games, if you use the link from my article instead of searching for it in google, I may get a small commission from your purchase if it was an affiliate link.

If I use affiliate links in an article, I will state it at the top of the page. You can also check my linktree and disclosure page for a list of the affiliate programs that I am working with and what kind of discounts are available, if applicable.

#3 – FREE: Subscribe to the TTRPGkids Youtube and watch, comment on, and like videos

I am ramping up my Youtube channel so I can reach more folks with my article content via video! As of the last update to this post (Sept 2026), I’m really just getting into this, and I would LOVE to see this grow.

If you subscribe, watch a video, like it, and/or comment on it, this helps the YT algorithm know to start sharing it with others.

On my channel, I am going to be doing readaloud stories for kids from books that I’ve written, walkthroughs of game lists that I have in article form on the site, and various other pieces that I think folks might enjoy.

This is one where, I don’t know if this will ever generate revenue in the longrun (it would be nice, but I’m not counting on it), but I do think it will help me reach more people with the work I’ve done, and that matters to me more.

#4 – PAID or FREE: Purchase TTRPGkids games OR leave a review on a free game!

I publish my own games (which you can find here) and would love for people to use them!

Some games have a set cost and others are pay-what-you-want (PWYW).

For PWYW games, you can pick these up for free and you can choose if you want to leave a tip.

Either way, whether you pick up a paid game or a free game, it REALLY helps other folks to find my games in searches if you give them a nice review or leave a comment… and it helps me to know if these games are helping others.

Also, if you can’t afford a game but are willing to try it out and give me feedback or write a review, please contact me and I’m happy to discuss giving folks a free copy in exchange for this.

I also frequently add community copies (a limited number of free copies) for my games to help families get access to games for their kids, and I announced these on… my monthly newsletter! (see next section)

#5 – FREE: Subscribe to the TTRPGkids newsletter

Once per month (and sometimes twice/month if there’s a big project going on, but that’s rare), I send out a newsletter to summarize all the new articles posted on TTRPGkids AND revisit some older posts as part of a monthly theme (i.e. in October, I typically will list a bunch of articles having to do with Halloween TTRPGs).

In that monthly theme list, I will either list an already free TTRPGkids game OR let you know about community copies (free copies) that I’m adding for a normally paid game that matches the theme.

If you subscribe to this, it helps you stay up to date on what’s going on, lets you review the summary to pick out which articles seem most interesting to you, lets you know about the free game, AND helps me out by being able to reach you with the content you like in the longterm.

#6 – FREE: Follow TTRPGkids on social media and comment on, like, and share posts

Another one about keeping up to date is to follow TTRPGkids on socials! This lets you know about new articles on the site as soon as they land, and I’ll also be linking or crossposting some of my video content here (so you’ll get a mix of the two).

If you like, share, and comment on my socials posts, like with most things on here, it helps spread the word, and it hopefully only takes you a few seconds.

You can find my social media list on my linktree, but also, if you want to hone in on a few, I tend to be most active on bluesky, instagram, and discord. I still pay attention to the others, but those three are the ones I check just a tad more frequently.

#7 – PAID: Join the TTRPGkids Patreon

If you join the TTRPGkids Patreon, you not only support the site, but you get a lot of bonuses depending on the tier you join!

Here, I’m posting articles from the TTRPGkids site early (they land on Patreon as soon as I write them versus waiting for the TTRPGkids regular site schedule), running live chats with Patreons, posting playtest content, offering digital game discounts, and more.

Patreon provides some regular financial support that I am first putting towards covering site fees and secondarily putting towards either convention travel or publishing new games (whichever is most relevant at the time)… which both help with all the other optiosn listed above. It’s all connected.

And, there’s a free subscriber option too. Joining for free helps me increase my audience so it’s more likely someone will stumble upon the Patreon page, and you still get to see all the upcoming article titles before anyone else.
